Health & Safety

A safe and healthy workplace is a shared responsibility — from orientation through ongoing training and active safety leadership.

Safety Training

Every employee undergoes initial orientation training including:

  • Electrical safety and fire hazards / extinguisher use
  • Back safety, lifting, and lock out–tag out
  • Confined space and behavioral safety
  • Hazard communication and PPE use & inspection

Ongoing training includes OSHA 10 & 30 hour, MSHA certification, respiratory protection, mobile equipment, first aid & CPR, and other programs as needed.

Shared Responsibility

  • Management provides leadership and safe working conditions.
  • Supervisors develop proper attitudes and ensure safe work performance.
  • Every employee cooperates with all aspects of the safety and health program.

Safety Committee

We maintain an active safety committee that targets employee and job safety issues. The committee meets monthly and includes a sampling of employees and managers.

Drug-Free Workplace

Swam Electric is a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace. We test every employee during pre-employment and perform random testing. CDL drivers are tested per DOT regulations; pipeline facility workers follow DOT pipeline regulations.
